My Co-Lab Bit Residency
The Co-Labricists set aside May of 2016 for my Instagram residency. To commemorate the occasion, I wrote some prose:
“Self-portraits are clogging the internet, thrust upon us like Bibles, or credit cards. Instagram is mostly a duckface transmission tool. It’s time to beat the swords into plowshares and reclaim this technology.
I will spend this Bitres obliterating my image. I’m going to silently kidnap myself, one body part at a time. Take my face….off, cover myself in debris, like a sniper in the city. My camouflage will be a stuffed animal, a hood ornament, a turd, a nicotine patch. I’ll show you just how easy it is to DISAPPEAR.
During the month of May, I’ll revise my technique, becoming more and more proficient. Then one day, I’ll be impersonating a patch of weeds or a garage door, and you’ll be projecting yourself in a seemingly empty frame.”
